Project Overview
Ward County was in need of a jail expansion for over a decade. The existing 52 cell facility, built in 1981, had proven itself inadequate in light of recent population growth. Design with Ward County began in 2005. The client had one primary goal; provide more inmate holding cells to alleviate the tremendous overcrowding issue. The 65,000 square foot, 5 story addition and remodel added 100 new cells. Also included were new inmate recreation areas, public lobby/entrance, visitation areas, administrative offices and inmate health services. The building also includes state-of-the-art security upgrades and technology in order to provide a safe and secure environment for inmates and staff.
